What Grand Guignol looks like in contemporary times. London’s Le Nouveau Guignol’s production of “The Last Kiss,” based on a 1920s story by horror writer Maurice Level. A disfigured man whose lover threw acid in his face returns to exact his revenge, by pouring acid on her while he kisses her. Yikes!
Level’s story ends like this:
… Then he straightened himself, stumbled over her, felt about the wall to find the switch, and put out the light. And round them, as in them, was a great Darkness.
